Memorial Weekend Blessings

Memorial weekend has carried some bad memories for our family but with some of the biggest reminders of our BLESSINGS. 9 years ago we were having the biggest scare of our life when Cora had her liver surgery. It was the biggest time of faith renewal for me and continues to be my grounding as a parent.

This weekend those feelings shot through me again with a bolt of emotions when we got that phone call that our kid was in a car wreck.

Jake and I are very rarely both out of town together with our kids sports schedule but this weekend we were excited to have it workout and get some family time. We last minute decided to let Will and Rhett stay home for summer workouts and taking care of the dogs. So four hours away and we get the call.

BLESSING he and Reese were not injured other than some soreness. Jakes truck that we’ve had since 2004 is totaled. It’s just a truck. Our kids are ok. Those angels were there with the help of a good ole Chevy bumper.

Memorial weekend you are in my heart for many reasons. Thankful for our veterans. Thankful for my overflowing of blessings. Thankful for our friends this weekend Shane and Amy Weaston who were there with us when we got the call. Our friends Kevin and Ashley Harp who were ready to RUN. My mom and stepdad who dropped everything and even brought my babies to me because I needed to have us together.

I am reminded of the reality of life and the important things we have.
